OUR FIELDS
Everything begins in the fertile land of Macedonia. Located in Alexandria, Imathia, our farm spans over 180 hectares and stands as the largest producer of baby leaf vegetables in Greece.
The “field-to-fork” philosophy lies at the heart of our operations. We operate as a fully vertically integrated unit, specialising in the cultivation, processing, and distribution of fresh leafy vegetables. This operational model safeguards the safety and premium quality of our produce, ensuring peak freshness up to the moment it is enjoyed.
Sustainable Agriculture
At Vezyroglou Farm, agricultural production is more than just a process—it is a promise for the future. We are committed to producing high-quality products by implementing innovative and sustainable practices that respect the environment and natural resources.
Cultivation on Fertile Soil
We utilise modern net houses and greenhouses as natural protective shields for our crops, significantly lowering our environmental footprint. Simultaneously, we maintain fertile, living soil through smart, natural methods like crop rotation and green manuring, enriching the land with essential nutrients.
Seed Selection
Quality begins with the perfect seed. We focus on seasonality and naturally resilient varieties, minimising the need for interventions during cultivation. We carefully select crop varieties with superior organoleptic properties, ensuring exceptional flavour, texture, nutritional profile, and shelf life.
Crop Monitoring
We monitor our crops closely at every stage of growth. The daily presence of our specialized agronomists in the fields ensures that each plant develops under optimal conditions. In parallel, we conduct continuous assessments and measurements of key quality parameters, enhancing the nutritional value, rich flavour, and food safety of our produce.
Cultivation Practices
By utilising predictive disease models and advanced technologies, we By utilizing disease prediction models and advanced technologies, we intervene only when necessary and in a targeted manner. Leveraging field biodiversity and beneficial organisms, we strengthen the plants’ natural defenses. In parallel, the use of biological formulations and biostimulants improves soil fertility. Through advanced irrigation systems, we ensure responsible water management, providing each plant with precisely the amount of water it needs.
Food Safety Assurance
Product safety remains our absolute priority. We are proud to be the first company in Greece to adopt and implement the rigorous international GLOBALG.A.P. Add-on (PLUS) standard, setting new benchmarks for Good Agricultural Practices in the region. Thanks to our fully integrated supply chain, we maintain a comprehensive traceability system that logs the exact origin of every delivery. We deliver only the finest produce our land can yield.
High-Standard Harvesting
Harvesting is the final and most critical phase of agricultural production. We utilise custom mechanical harvesting equipment engineered to protect the young vegetables from stress, ensuring their nutritional value, crisp texture, and structural integrity are preserved at the highest standard.
Our Production Process: Quality at Every Stage
At Vezyroglou Farm, the production of ready-to-eat salads is a perfect balance of freshness and technological excellence. Within our state-of-the-art 7,500 m² facility, we have established a model processing environment certified under the most rigorous international food safety management systems (HACCP, ISO), ensuring the highest standards of hygiene and product quality.
RECEIVING & RAPID COOLING
Our commitment to premium quality begins immediately post-harvest. The baby leaves are swiftly transferred to advanced rapid-cooling facilities, minimizing exposure to ambient temperatures. Through the full digitalisation of our supply chain via a Warehouse Management System (WMS), we ensure complete traceability and control from the very first step.
STRICT SELECTION
Combining a highly skilled workforce with cutting-edge optical sorting technology, we carry out meticulous raw material selection. Only leaves that meet our strict quality criteria pass this stage, ensuring that only the finest produce enters our processing line.
Innovative Washing System
Our cleaning process is carried out in two distinct stages to guarantee purity and structural integrity:
- Controlled Precision Washing to remove natural impurities and field debris.
- Thorough Rinsing to ensure absolute cleanliness and product integrity Driven by environmental responsibility, we operate a Water Recycling System, significantly minimizing our environmental footprint while maintaining uncompromised hygiene standards.
Gentle Dehumidification
We avoid conventional centrifugation methods that can bruise or stress the young greens. Instead, we utilize an advanced, gradual dehumidification process with controlled, gentle airflow. This ensures that delicate baby leaves remain completely intact, preserving their fresh appearance and maximizing their shelf life.
Quality Control
Using innovative technologies, a final inspection is carried out by our dedicated Quality Control (QC) team. This step guarantees the superior quality and absolute food safety of the baby leaves immediately prior to packaging.
Automated Packaging & Weight Control
At the final stage of production, the baby leaves are automatically weighed, portioned, and packed. We package our greens naturally without the use of modified atmospheres (MAP), a choice that highlights the natural resilience, structure, and exceptional freshness of our raw materials.
Cold Chain Management
Immediately after packaging, the finished products are transferred to temperature-controlled refrigerated storage chambers. This ensures continuous, real-time monitoring of the cold chain up to the exact point of dispatch.
Distribution & Retail Delivery
The field-to-fork journey concludes with our logistics network. Our baby leaf salads are transported under strictly controlled refrigerated conditions, ensuring optimal quality preservation until they reach retail shelves across the region.
